UFC inks Frank Mir's daughter, Bella, to 1st-ever NIL deal

UFC

The UFC signed Bella Mir, daughter of UFC pioneer Frank Mir, as its first-ever name, image, and likeness (NIL) ambassador, the promotion announced Friday.

Bella Mir, 20, competes for the University of Iowa's women's wrestling team as a freshman. She made her professional mixed martial arts debut in 2020 and holds a 3-0 record.

"Bella was destined to become a member of the UFC family her entire life," UFC president Dana White said in a statement.

NIL deals, introduced by the NCAA in 2021, allow college athletes to be compensated for things like endorsements, social media posts, and public appearances.

As a high school student, Mir won four consecutive Nevada wrestling titles, ranked sixth nationally in the 144-pound division, and was a 2021 junior folkstyle national champion. She also won multiple Brazilian jiu-jitsu tournaments in 2021 and 2022.

"I'm super grateful, and I honestly couldn't be more thankful to Dana and UFC for giving me this opportunity," Mir said. "I'm going to make sure I do my best to represent UFC and show the world what I'm all about."

Though Mir signed the NIL deal, it's unclear whether the UFC will add her to the roster.

"Bella is an incredible role model for young women who are not only looking to get into sports but also pursue their dreams," White said. "She's on another level, and we can't wait to see what she does next."

Frank Mir, 43, is a former UFC heavyweight champion, winning the title in 2004. His final Octagon appearance occurred in 2016, and his most recent MMA bout took place under the Bellator banner in 2019.
