Aljamain Sterling's days as a bantamweight are numbered.

The UFC champion tweeted Tuesday he sees a move to the featherweight division in his foreseeable future.

"It's coming soon for sure," Sterling wrote.

Sterling has said in the past that he finds it difficult to cut down to 135 pounds for his fights.

Additionally, the 32-year-old said in May he'll "probably have to move up" if teammate Merab Dvalishvili wins his next fight, allowing Dvalishvili an opportunity to challenge for the bantamweight title.

Since then, Dvalishvili reportedly agreed to a potential No. 1 contender bout against Jose Aldo at UFC 278 in August.

Sterling, who most recently defeated Petr Yan in a rematch in April, is reportedly expected to defend his title against former champion TJ Dillashaw at UFC 279 in September.
