UFC bantamweight Marlon Moraes has retired from mixed martial arts, his manager Ali Abdelaziz told TSN's Aaron Bronsteter on Wednesday.
"I want to thank everyone," Moraes said in a statement. "Sean Shelby, Hunter Campbell, Dana White, and the UFC for giving me so many opportunities. I want to thank my family, coaches, manager, everybody who has been part of my career.
"I'm still going to be around MMA helping young guys and my friends."
Moraes departs the sport after 15 years and 34 professional bouts.
The Brazilian made his UFC debut in 2017 following a lengthy stint in the WSOF, where he held the bantamweight title and was considered one of the top fighters outside the UFC.
After going 4-1 in his first five Octagon appearances, Moraes met Henry Cejudo for the vacant bantamweight title in 2019. He lost the fight by third-round TKO.
From there, Moraes was never quite the same. He beat Jose Aldo in a controversial decision and then lost four in a row by knockout, most recently to Song Yadong in March.
Moraes retires with a 23-10-1 career record and a 5-6 mark in the UFC.
