White: Covington could get 3rd title shot if he keeps winning
UFC president Dana White isn't ruling out another shot at the welterweight title for Colby Covington.
Covington has lost twice to champion Kamaru Usman, including by unanimous decision in their November rematch. But he has also cemented himself as the clear No. 2 fighter in the division.
After Covington dominated Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272, White said "Chaos" will find himself in another title fight if he continues to beat fighters ranked below him.
"If he stays at 170 (pounds) and keeps winning, I mean, eventually, you have to give the kid a shot again," White said at the postfight press conference, according to MMA Fighting.
Covington improved to 2-2 in his last four Octagon appearances after controlling Masvidal with his wrestling in Saturday's grudge match. He hasn't lost to anyone other than Usman since 2015.
