Report: Hardy gets new UFC 270 opponent with Oleinik out
One of the top fights on next weekend's UFC 270 card has undergone a change.
Aleksei Oleinik has withdrawn from his heavyweight bout against Greg Hardy, sources told MMA reporter Ariel Helwani. Serghei Spivac has reportedly stepped in to face Hardy on short notice at the Jan. 22 event in Anaheim.
Hardy could be in a must-win situation as he's set to complete his current UFC contract against Spivac while riding a two-fight skid. The former NFL player has suffered back-to-back stoppage losses against Tai Tuivasa and Marcin Tybura. He's 4-4 (1 NC) in the promotion overall.
Spivac is coming off a first-round TKO loss to top prospect Tom Aspinall in September. Before that, the 26-year-old won three straight contests.
UFC 270 will feature a heavyweight title unification bout between Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane, as well as a flyweight title trilogy bout between Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo.
