Bellator books Johnson-Nemkov, Bader-Anderson for Oct. 16

Bellator

The Bellator light heavyweight tournament will resume Oct. 16 with Anthony "Rumble" Johnson and Vadim Nemkov squaring off for the title in the marquee semifinal, the promotion announced Saturday.

Ryan Bader and Corey Anderson will face each other in the other semifinal. The two winners will meet in the tournament finale, when the champion will earn the title and $1 million.

Nemkov (14-2) carried the belt into the tournament and defeated Phil Davis by unanimous decision in April to retain his title and advance past the quarterfinals. His next challenge is Johnson (23-6), a former UFC star who signed with Bellator after a four-year break from the sport and knocked out Jose Augusto during his return.

Bader (28-6) and Anderson (15-5), who also spent several years in the UFC, will square off in what essentially amounts to a No. 1 contender's match. They defeated Lyoto Machida and Dovletdzhan Yagshimuradov in the quarterfinals, respectively.

Bellator plans to stage the event in Phoenix, where it last held a show in 2014.
