Be careful what you wish for.

Charles Oliveira fired back at Conor McGregor after capturing the UFC lightweight title Saturday, telling him they can meet in the Octagon if he gets past Dustin Poirier in July.

"Conor, worry about Dustin, and afterward, we'll talk about it," Oliveira said through an interpreter at the UFC 262 postfight press conference, per MMA Fighting.

Oliveira added: "Conor, since you're so tough - first of all, beat Dustin, then come over to Brazil and I'll put you on your ass. First, he has to pass Dustin. He's just one of these guys that talks a lot. He's got to beat Dustin first."

Earlier Saturday night, McGregor hinted at a bout with the new champion after Oliveira's second-round TKO win over Michael Chandler.

McGregor, a former lightweight and featherweight champion, lost to Poirier via second-round TKO earlier in 2021. He's slated to face Poirier in a trilogy bout at UFC 264 on July 10. The winner of that fight could be Oliveira's first challenger.
