Report: Munhoz-Rivera off UFC 258 due to positive COVID-19 test
The rematch between top-10 bantamweights Pedro Munhoz and Jimmie Rivera has been scratched from Saturday's UFC 258 main card, sources told MMA Fighting's Guilherme Cruz and Damon Martin.
The cancellation is reportedly due to a positive COVID-19 test, though it's unclear who produced that result.
Munhoz-Rivera is expected to be rescheduled for UFC Fight Night on Feb. 27, but those plans haven't been finalized, Cruz and Martin added.
Munhoz is coming off a razor-thin loss to Frankie Edgar last August. He hasn't picked up a win since knocking out former champion Cody Garbrandt in March 2019.
Meanwhile, Rivera bested Cody Stamann in his last contest to snap a two-fight skid.
The two bantamweights first met in November 2015, with Rivera earning a split-decision victory.
UFC 258 takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and will feature a welterweight title fight between champion Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns.
