Report: Aldo-Vera booked for UFC event on Dec. 19
A bantamweight bout between Jose Aldo and Marlon Vera is set for UFC Fight Night on Dec. 19 in Las Vegas, according to MMA Junkie's Danny Segura and BJPenn.com's Cole Shelton.
Aldo is coming off a loss to Petr Yan for the vacant bantamweight title at UFC 251 in July. The former featherweight champion has lost three straight bouts, including a decision to current 145-pound champ Alexander Volkanovski.
The Brazilian's last win came against Renato Moicano in early 2019. Aldo defended his belt seven times and is widely considered one of the greatest fighters of all time.
Vera, a rising star at 135 pounds, finished Sean O'Malley in his last bout at UFC 252 in August. "Chito" is 6-1 in his past seven outings.
UFC Fight Night will be headlined by a welterweight bout between Leon Edwards and Khamzat Chimaev. It will also feature Stephen Thompson versus Geoff Neal in the co-main event.
