Report: Gastelum, Heinisch agree to Jan. 30 fight
Kelvin Gastelum and Ian Heinisch have verbally agreed to meet in a middleweight bout at UFC Fight Night on Jan. 30, sources told ESPN's Brett Okamoto.
Gastelum will be looking to snap his three-fight skid, which includes a quick submission loss to Jack Hermansson in July. The 29-year-old faced Israel Adesanya for the interim middleweight title in 2019, falling short in a razor-thin "Fight of the Year" candidate. Gastelum's last win came against Ronaldo Souza in 2018.
Heinisch is coming off a first-round TKO over Gerald Meerschaert in June, which ended his two-fight losing streak. He was scheduled to face Brendan Allen at UFC Fight Night last weekend but tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the bout.
The UFC hasn't announced a main event or location for the Jan. 30 card.
