A.J. McKee would love to one day throw down with UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway, even though they're in different promotions.

The Bellator contender praised Holloway when asked how he saw his title defense against Alexander Volkanovski playing out at UFC 245 on Saturday.

"(Holloway's) striking is so far ahead of people, they don't even know what the f--- he's in there doing," McKee told theScore on Tuesday. "That's one of my dream fights, is to fight Max Holloway."

McKee added: "Pound-for-pound striking-wise, he's got great standup, man. He puts people down. I feel like he doesn't have too much of a knockout-knockout power, but man, it'd be phenomenal just to get in there and dance around with him. If you get caught slipping, Max Holloway will sit you on your ass."

Holloway meets Volkanovski in the co-main event of Saturday's pay-per-view event in Las Vegas. The Hawaiian has held the 145-pound title since June 2017, most recently defending it against Frankie Edgar this past summer.

One of the brightest prospects Bellator has seen in years, McKee is coming off an eight-second knockout of Georgi Karakhanyan at Bellator 228 in September. "Mercenary" is currently taking part in the Bellator Featherweight Grand Prix and meets Derek Campos in the quarterfinals Dec. 21 at Bellator 236.

McKee is 15-0 as a pro.
