Fabricio Werdum receives 2-year ban from USADA

Per Haljestam / USA TODAY Sports

Former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum has been suspended for two years after testing positive for a prohibited substance, the United States Anti-Doping Agency announced Tuesday.

An out-of-competition test in April revealed trenbolone and its metabolite epitrenbolone in Werdum's system, the first offense of his career.

The veteran can resume fighting on May 22, 2020, when he will be 43 years old.

Following his failed test, Werdum was replaced by Mark Hunt for his bout with Aleksei Oleinik at UFC Fight Night 136 in Moscow on Saturday.
