Anthony Pettis defeated Michael Chiesa in their highly anticipated showdown at UFC 226, winning via submission (triangle armbar) in the second round.

Pettis moved to 21-7 with the victory and appears to be gaining momentum after moving back to the lightweight division.

Both fighters were initially expected to square off at UFC 223, but the contest was postponed after Conor McGregor threw an object at a van transporting fighters to and from a media appearance at the Barclays Center, injuring Chiesa in the process.

Chiesa weighed in at 157.5 pounds, over the 156-pound lightweight limit and forfeited 30 percent of his purse as a result.
