O'Malley to undergo foot surgery on Friday
It will be a while before we see Sean O'Malley in the cage again.
The lauded bantamweight prospect will undergo surgery on his right foot Friday after sustaining the injury in his unanimous decision win over Andre Soukhamthath at UFC 222 earlier this month, as he confirmed Wednesday following a report from MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani.
O'Malley was told he'd have to go under the knife on Monday and sought a second opinion before Wednesday's development.
The MMA Lab product recently revealed to Severe MMA the UFC had approached him regarding a spot on July's finale of "The Ultimate Fighter 27," but his team has since told Helwani he's now targeting a fall return.
O'Malley is undefeated in 10 pro bouts, the last two of which have been contested in the UFC.
