Duquesnoy edges Ware in 3-round striking duel by decision

Don't write off Tom Duquesnoy just yet.

After dropping a split decision to Cody Stamann in his last outing at UFC 216, the highly touted bantamweight prospect took a closely contested striker's ball opposite the durable Terrion Ware by unanimous decision to get back in the win column at Saturday's UFC Fight Night 127 in London.

The pair of bangers lived up to their matchup's billing, as Duquesnoy got to throwing combinations punctuated by chopping low kicks while Ware put in some solid body work through the bulk of the first two rounds.

Ware exploited Duquesnoy's habit of giving in to pressure by walking him down consistently in the latter half of the contest, but didn't dial up the volume in the third round of a fight that was tied up on two of three scorecards heading into the third. A fatiguing Duquesnoy responded to Ware's stalking with more kicks to his lead leg, and while Ware outlanded him, the youngster hit pay dirt with cleaner shots and swayed every one of the presiding judges.

The 31-year-old Ware has now gotten the short end of three straight competitive matchups opposite top UFC prospects on points.
