Leon Edwards wasn't going to let Peter Sobotta's second wind resume at his expense.

In the second buzzer-beating stoppage of Saturday's UFC Fight Night 127 in London, the rising welterweight rained strikes on a bloodied Peter Sobotta from back mount to secure the TKO and extend his win streak to five with just one second to go in the bill's main-card opener.

Watch: Craig stuns Ankalaev with buzzer-beating comeback tapout

The latest stoppage in a three-round UFC bout (4:59 of the final frame) tied a record light heavyweight Paul Craig set earlier in the afternoon with a last-second comeback triangle-choke submission of Magomed Ankalaev.

Edwards kicked things off with a long right hook that sent Sobotta to the canvas, only to find himself staving off an armbar attempt seconds later. The Brit stoically escaped and chewed the clock with some rather inactive top control to put himself ahead on the scorecards heading into the second.

The Birmingham native promptly brought the action to the mat in Round 2, only for the crafty Sobotta to transition from a kimura grip to a back mount Edwards had to literally shake his way out of before regaining the reins. Edwards sought a home for his power left hand to open the third, and had Sobotta shooting for a takedown, but Edwards reversed into top position, cut to half-guard, and busted Sobotta open with elbows before taking his back and resuming the hellfire until referee Rich Mitchell stepped in for the save that gave Edwards co-ownership of the record Craig had set hours prior.

The stoppage snapped the two-fight win streak an improved Sobotta brought into the matchup and dropped him to 4-2 since rejoining the UFC in May 2014.
