Kharitonov outslugs Beltran at Russian Cagefighting Championship event
He had to go the distance, but Sergei Kharitonov made it four in a row Sunday.
The heavyweight veteran outstruck a durable Joey Beltran from first bell to last for a unanimous decision victory at a Russian Cagefighting Championship show in Yekaterinburg, Russia.
Kharitonov wasted little time walking Beltran down, maintaining an active jab, working the body, and chopping away with inside and outside low kicks. The 37-year-old had to field some return fire - mainly in the form of uppercuts as he closed in on Beltran against the fence - but his high output earned him the nod on every scorecard for just his second career victory on points.
The Strikeforce alum improved to 27-6 with the verdict, while Beltran - a UFC and Bellator vet - has now dropped three straight.
