Vick edges Trinaldo via decision in highly entertaining bout

Noah K. Murray / USA TODAY Sports

James Vick gave his hometown crowd a hell of a fight to watch Sunday, beating Francisco Trinaldo via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 126 to extend his winning streak to four.

Vick and Trinaldo came out at a torrid pace, with the former playing the role of the aggressor early. Trinaldo ate a huge right from the American, but was able to recover and lock in a guillotine. However, Vick showed great heart by fighting out of the submission and immediately punishing Trinaldo with a knee.

The second round was more of the same. Vick continued to outstrike his opponent, with Trinaldo struggling with Vick's size and length advantage.

Knowing he was down two rounds and looking for the knockout, the 39-year-old Brazilan came out hot in the third round. But Vick smartly rode his movement, kicks, and range advantage to victory in the final round, keeping Trinaldo at bay and moving to 9-1 in the UFC.
