Report: Belfort, Machida agree to fight at UFC 224 in Brazil

Jason Silva / USA TODAY Sports

Brazil is reportedly going to be treated to a clash between two of the country's most popular fighters.

Vitor Belfort and Lyoto Machida have verbally agreed to a middleweight fight at UFC 224 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on May 12, sources told Damon Martin of MMANYTT.com.

Belfort's last fight took place in Rio last June, when he scored a unanimous decision victory over Nate Marquardt at UFC 212. The 40-year-old's fight with Machida is the last bout on his current UFC deal.

Meanwhile, Machida snapped a three-fight losing streak by earning a unanimous decision win against Eryk Anders in Belem, Brazil.
