Patricky Freire clobbers Campos in 1st round of rematch at Bellator 194

Bellator MMA

Patricky Freire needed far less time to dispose of Derek Campos in their second fight than he did in their first.

Nearly four years after he put Campos away by second-round knockout, Freire rocked him with a perfectly timed counter left hook, then swarmed with a typhoon of punches until he'd secured the TKO just 2:23 into Bellator 194's lightweight co-headliner in Connecticut on Friday.

The Brazilian's 12th career knockout extended his win streak to three and improved his promotional slate to 12-7, while Campos saw a four-fight win streak snapped. All five of his promotional losses have come inside the distance.

Prior to the evening's co-main event, Heather Hardy took a sloppy unanimous decision over fellow converted pugilist Ana Julaton not with her mitts, but with grappling that betrayed her status as an MMA neophyte. Julaton repeatedly angled for takedowns, but Hardy took the verdict with several clunky - if somewhat effective - submission attempts, improving her MMA record to 2-1 and rendering her fellow boxer winless in two fights under the Bellator banner.

Hardy will have to forfeit Julaton 20 percent of her show and win money after she was deemed a quarter-pound overweight for the flyweight bout during Thursday's chaotic weigh-ins. The pair are expected to tangle in the ring at a yet-to-be-determined date.
