Conor McGregor is throwing his support behind former UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey as she makes the move to professional wrestling.

The Irishman was all smiles earlier this week when asked about Rousey signing with WWE.

"I'm delighted for her," McGregor told independent journalist Adam Glyn while in New York City. "Absolutely over the moon for her. She looked like she really enjoyed herself at the (Royal Rumble) event and I was very, very happy to see her.

"She's a pioneer for the game and she's came through it all and faced big wins and big, big losses and she came through it. It's great to see her represent herself and mixed martial arts and have fun in WWE. I know she's been a big fan of it all her life so it's great to see that."

Rousey's first big WWE match is expected to come at WrestleMania 34 in April, with one report indicating that she could team up with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to take on Stephanie McMahon and Triple H.
