White hints at potential Miocic-Cormier bout
Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier emerged as the major winners from UFC 220 and their paths may cross again if UFC president Dana White gets his wish.
Miocic defended his heavyweight title for a record third time by defeating Francis Ngannou, while Cormier dismissed Volkan Oezdemir in two rounds to retain his light heavyweight belt.
After the card ended, White teed up a potential Miocic-Cormier showdown.
"That's a fight people would like to see," White told reporters.
In order for the fight to be viable, however, Cormier would need to transition to the heavyweight division, a notion which he apparently has no interest in.
"If Cain is getting prepared to get that belt back, I have nothing for that division," Cormier told reporters, per MMA Fighting, referring to teammate Cain Velasquez.
For the time being, Miocic and Cormier are going to enjoy their respective victories before considering another lucrative avenue.
