Conor McGregor has already stepped into the boxing ring with one of the top two fighters of this generation, but it doesn't appear like he's interested in doing so with the other.

Asked by TMZ about his next fight and a potential bout with Manny Pacquiao, the Irishman said he'll likely return to the Octagon.

"We'll see what happens," McGregor said. "I think a true fight is what I want to do next. A real fight, what's a real fight? MMA next."

Pacquiao claimed he'd reached out to the UFC lightweight champion's camp regarding a potential matchup in April. The decorated boxer has also mentioned Keith Thurman, and most recent foe, Jeff Horn, as potential opponents for his next fight.

McGregor, meanwhile, has been coy about his future plans since losing to Floyd Mayweather via 10th-round TKO in his pro boxing debut in August. He was reportedly set to make his MMA return at the UFC's last card of 2017, UFC 219, on Dec. 30, but was pulled due to his altercation with referee Marc Goddard at Bellator 187.

The Irishman has also continuously stated his desire for a stake in the UFC before agreeing to return to the promotion.
