Chiesa suing McGregor over bus attack
UFC lightweight Michael Chiesa has filed a civil lawsuit against Conor McGregor over injuries he incurred when McGregor threw a dolly through a bus window in April, ESPN's Brett Okamoto reports.
Chiesa was scheduled to compete against Anthony Pettis at UFC 223 on April 7 when McGregor attacked a bus carrying UFC fighters. Chiesa was hospitalized after sustaining lacerations to his face and his fight with Pettis was rescheduled for a later date.
The lawsuit says Chiesa suffered "serious personal, economic, and other" injuries, as well as "severe emotional distress, mental trauma, and/or bodily harm."
A monetary figure wasn't disclosed, but Chiesa is pursuing compensation for "lost opportunities." The 30-year-old has said he was unable to fill in as a last-second replacement for a lightweight title fight at UFC 223 because of the incident.
Chiesa fought Pettis in July at UFC 226 and lost via second-round submission. He hasn't been in the Octagon since.
