Stephens vs. Choi confirmed as UFC St. Louis headliner

Perry Nelson / USA TODAY Sports

Jeremy Stephens and Doo Ho Choi will have five rounds to duke it out instead of three.

The previously booked featherweight clash of bangers was confirmed as the main event for UFC Fight Night 124 on Jan. 14 in St. Louis during Saturday's broadcast of UFC on FOX 26.

Stephens, 31, has won six of 11 since moving down from lightweight in May 2013, and most recently snapped a two-fight skid with a lopsided decision over former Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez at UFC 215 in September. He heads to Scottrade Center with an even promotional record of 13-13.

Choi will take the Octagon for the first time since December of last year after withdrawing from a July date with Andre Fili at UFC 214 due to injury. The Korean knockout artist was last seen dropping an instant classic to Cub Swanson by unanimous decision at UFC 206 - his first defeat in four promotional bouts. He's collected 11 of his 14 professional scalps by way of knockout.
