Mara Romero Borella has been tasked with welcoming Katlyn Chookagian to the UFC's newly formed female flyweight division.

The 31-year-old will square off with Chookagian at UFC on Fox 27 on Jan. 27 at Spectrum Center in Charlotte. The promotion did not formally announce the matchup, but included it on the event's official webpage Tuesday.

Romero Borella made her first walk to the Octagon opposite Kalindra Faria in October at UFC 216, where she extended her win streak to six by submission in under three minutes of work.

Chookagian competed as a flyweight prior to joining the UFC's bantamweight division in July of last year. The 28-year-old most recently rebounded from a decision loss to Liz Carmouche with a split verdict over Irene Aldana at UFC 210 this past April, bringing her promotional record to 2-1.

The January bill will be headlined by a middleweight rematch between Strikeforce alumni Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza and Derek Brunson.
