A tantalizing title bout is headed to Beantown.

Stipe Miocic will defend his heavyweight crown against the surging Francis Ngannou in the main event of UFC 220 on Jan. 20 at Boston's TD Garden, the promotion confirmed on Saturday's broadcast of UFC Fight Night 123.

The 35-year-old Miocic will vie for a divisional record third successful title defense after scoring first-round knockouts of Alistair Overeem and Junior dos Santos at UFC 203 and 211, respectively. The defending champ has won each of his last five fights by stoppage.

Ngannou, 31, gets his first shot at UFC gold on a turnaround of less than two months. The Cameroonian has dispatched all six of his promotional conquests before the final bell, and last laid waste to Overeem in under two minutes at UFC 218 a week ago.

Also gracing the bill is a light heavyweight title bout between reigning titleholder Daniel Cormier and Volkan Oezdemir.
