Report: Caraway out of UFC Fresno bout vs. Sanders due to injury

Joe Camporeale / USA TODAY

The injury bug has struck Bryan Caraway yet again.

The 33-year-old bantamweight has pulled out of his December bout opposite Luke Sanders at UFC Fight Night 123 in Fresno, Calif. with an undisclosed injury, officials told MMAjunkie's John Morgan on Monday.

A replacement opponent is currently being sought to keep Sanders on the bill.

Caraway has fought just once in 2015 and 2016 - winning both contests - and sees his second booking of the year fall through due to injuries. The Washington native had been scheduled to face Jimmie Rivera this past January at UFC Fight Night 103, only to pull out less than two weeks prior. He was last seen edging Aljamain Sterling by split decision at UFC Fight Night 88 in May 2016.

If his spot on the card can be salvaged, Sanders will look to rebound from a second-round submission loss to Iuri Alcantara at UFC 209 in March.

Featherweight contenders Cub Swanson and Brian Ortega will clash in the main event at Save Mart Center.
