VanZant says her 125-lb debut will be against 'TUF 26' winner
Paige VanZant appears to be closing in on a solid bout for her first fight at 125 pounds.
The 23-year-old says she will face the winner of "The Ultimate Fighter 26" - who will be crowned the UFC's first women's flyweight champion - in her debut fight at the new weight class.
VanZant, who has been public about her difficulties to make weight at 115 pounds, did not specify when the bout will take place. The "TUF" winner will be crowned on Dec. 1.
Despite VanZant's tweet, UFC officials denied that the fight is close to being formalized, according to ESPN's Brett Okamoto.
The former strawweight fighter had a 7-3 record in her previous weight class, but lost two of her last three fights, both by submission. She last fought Michelle Waterson in December 2016.
