White: 1,500 first responders to Las Vegas shooting will attend UFC 216

A Las Vegas institution is looking out for its own in wake of this week's tragedy.

After a mass shooting claimed over 50 lives and injured 500 in the city this past Sunday, the UFC will host 1,500 first responders - including firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and medical staff - at T-Mobile Arena for Saturday's UFC 216, president Dana White told TSN's Aaron Bronsteter on Friday.

In addition to the $1 million it's already pledged to those affected, the promotion has also released a line of "Vegas Strong" T-shirts, and will donate the proceeds to victims' families.

The UFC has long called Las Vegas home and will dedicate Saturday's card to the city. Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee will meet for an interim lightweight title in the main event, with Demetrious Johnson vying for a record 11th straight flyweight title defense opposite Ray Borg in the co-headliner.
