VanZant forced to withdraw from UFC 216 bout vs. Eye

Kyle Terada / USA TODAY

Paige VanZant has been forced to withdraw from her flyweight division debut with Jessica Eye at UFC 216 in October due to an injury, the UFC announced Monday.

Eye appeared to respond to the news Monday afternoon on Twitter.

Eye hasn't fought since last September. A July bout with Aspen Ladd was also canceled on the day of the fight.

VanZant has been idle since a December loss to Michelle Waterson. She was to debut in the flyweight division after competing as a strawweight and earning a record of 7-3.

She recently revealed that she'd often "passed out" in her bathroom while cutting weight to fight in the lighter division.
