'Bigfoot' Silva to face kickboxing champ Verhoeven at Glory 46

Since he appears to have run out of luck in the cage, Antonio Silva will look to try it in the ring.

"Bigfoot" will face heavyweight kickboxing champion Rico Verhoeven in a non-title affair at Glory 46 on Oct. 14 in Guangzhou, China. Verhoeven announced the booking himself Friday on Instagram.

Silva joined the UFC in 2012 with wins over Andrei Arlovski and Fedor Emelianenko to his name, but hasn't had his hand raised since he knocked out Soa Palelei at UFC 190 in August 2015. The 37-year-old was handed his walking papers by the promotion after suffering his third straight knockout at Roy Nelson's hands last September. Silva has lost eight of his last nine, with all but one of those defeats coming by way of knockout.

Verhoeven has defended his Glory heavyweight crown five times and has won seven straight. He was last seen taking a unanimous decision over Ismael Lazaar in May.
