"Smile'n Sam" is back in the win column.
Outlasting Rashad Evans in a middleweight bout on Saturday night's UFC Mexico City main card, Sam Alvey emerged with a split-decision victory that moved his career record to 31-9.
It wasn't the most entertaining fight, and the lack of action will only draw more attention to Evans' late-career struggles.
But it's an important result for Alvey nonetheless, as his April loss to Thales Leites had halted the momentum he'd built with a four-fight win streak that stretched back to July 2016.
Evans, a former light heavyweight champion, has now dropped four consecutive bouts, three of them by decision. His career record now sits at 19-7-1.
