Daniel Cormier suffered a concussion when he was viciously kicked in the head by Jon Jones - and knocked out - Saturday night at UFC 214, his coach told USA Today Sports' A.J. Perez.

Jones reclaimed his light heavyweight title in the fight, beating Cormier for the second time - the only two losses on Cormier's record.

Cormier was emotional in a post-fight interview, and coach Javier Mendez was displeased that the interview happened at all after Cormier took repeated shots to the head.

"He had no business being interviewed," Mendez said. "Bad move. (Joe) Rogan probably feels bad."

Cormier was sent to a local hospital after the fight for observation.

In the past, Rogan said he wouldn't interview fighters after they'd been knocked out, but acknowledged on the broadcast after asking Cormier only two questions that he broke his own rule.
