The UFC's top middleweights continue to jockey for a shot at champion Michael Bisping, and a fight to be the No. 1 contender has extended into the Twitterverse.

No. 2 ranked middleweight Yoel Romero took to social media to inform his fans that the No. 3 man in the division turned down a fight with him.

Luke Rockhold responded Monday morning, stating that a bout on Sept. 16 was offered to Romero.

Rockhold will in fact fight on that date, but he will take on No. 9-ranked David Branch instead.

Romero's next fight has yet to be determined. He last fought July 8 for the interim middleweight title and lost to Robert Whittaker via decision. UFC president Dana White has said Bisping will next face Whittaker in order to unify the titles.
