Mousasi signs 6-fight deal with Bellator

Bellator just snagged itself another contender.

On Monday, the promotion announced that it has signed top-five UFC middleweight Gegard Mousasi. The signing was first reported by MMAjunkie's Chamatkar Sandhu.

The 31-year-old revealed on "The MMA Hour" with Ariel Helwani that the deal will be for six fights and he later issued a tweet showing himself putting pen to paper:

Mousasi completed his UFC contract with a TKO finish of Chris Weidman at UFC 210 and had been expected to re-sign with the organization in May. In 12 Octagon appearances, "The Dreamcatcher" compiled a 9-3 record with notable wins over Weidman, Vitor Belfort, and Dan Henderson.

In Bellator, Mousasi will be reunited with former Strikeforce boss Scott Coker. That 2009-13 run was part of a 14-year career in which Mousasi has gone 42-6-2 thus far. He is currently on a five-fight winning streak.
