Although their Aug. 19 date fell through, Mike Perry and Thiago Alves will get to throw down soon enough.

"Platinum" is expected to face Alves at UFC Fight Night 116 in Pittsburgh on Sept. 16, a month after they were supposed to fight at UFC 215, according to Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting.

That planned card was eventually canceled (with the event number being given to a September pay-per-view in Edmonton), leaving the Perry-Alves match to be re-booked.

In just four UFC fights, Perry has made himself one to watch in the welterweight division with three dynamite knockouts to his name. The Florida-resident owns a 10-1 pro record.

Alves has been with the UFC for 12 years and during that time he's gone 14-8 inside the Octagon. He fought for the welterweight championship back in 2009, but has gone 5-5 since. The 33-year-old Brazilian is coming off of a unanimous decision win over Patrick Cote in April.

Also rescheduled from the Aug. 19 event to UFC Fight Night 116 is a middleweight bout between Hector Lombard and Anthony Smith.

Lombard is 0-3 with one no-contest in his past four outings, a slump that followed a stretch of 34 wins in his first 40 pro bouts. Smith has won two straight bouts and three of four since returning to the UFC last February.
