Lamas to face Korean Zombie, Sterling gets Barao at UFC 214

Top-five featherweights Ricardo Lamas and "The Korean Zombie" Chan Sung Jung will square off on July 29 at UFC 214 in Anaheim, Calif., the promotion announced during Wednesday's edition of "UFC Tonight."

A perennial contender, "The Bully" has alternated wins and losses over his past four fights and was last seen submitting Charles Oliveira at UFC Fight Night 98 in November. Lamas currently sits in the No. 3 spot of the divisional rankings.

In February, Jung returned from a layoff of over three years with a bang, dispatching Dennis Bermudez by first-round knockout at UFC Fight Night 104. The fifth-ranked former title challenger takes a promotional record of 4-1 into his date with Lamas.

Also gracing the July card is Aljamain Sterling, who'll welcome Renan Barao back to the bantamweight division. After dropping split decisions to fellow contenders Bryan Caraway and Raphael Assuncao, "The Funk Master" got back in the win column by outpointing Augusto Mendes at UFC on FOX 24 last month.

A former champ at 135 pounds, Barao sought reinvention at featherweight two years after TJ Dillashaw dethroned him at UFC 173, but now returns to his old stomping ground after splitting bouts with Jeremy Stephens and Phillipe Nover.

UFC 214 is expected to be headlined by a rematch between reigning light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and former titleholder Jon Jones.

The promotion added another four fights to the Anaheim show, but did not confirm the bout order. The card's confirmed fights are as follows:

  • Light Heavyweight Championship Bout: Daniel Cormier vs. Jon Jones
  • Featherweight Bout: Doo Ho Choi vs. Andre Fili
  • Featherweight Bout: Ricardo Lamas vs. Chan Sung Jung
  • Bantamweight Bout: Aljamain Sterling vs. Renan Barao
  • Lightweight Bout: Josh Burkman vs. Drew Dober
  • Strawweight Bout: Kailin Curran vs. Alexandra Albu
  • Flyweight Bout: Eric Shelton vs. Jarred Brooks
  • Heavyweight Bout: Dmitry Smoliakov vs. Adam Wieczorek
