Jedrzejczyk dissects Andrade to retain strawweight title
And still.
In her return to the city where she captured the strawweight title two years ago, Joanna Jedrzejczyk treated Jessica Andrade to a death by a thousand cuts in a nearly flawless effort to successfully defend the strap for the fifth time in the co-main event of UFC 211 in Dallas on Saturday.
"Joanna Champion" improved her spotless professional record to 14-0 with her eighth win in the Octagon, which she earned by lopsided scores of 50-45, 50-44, and 50-45.
She may have failed in her bid to dethrone Jedrzejczyk, but Andrade turned a sour night sweet by (successfully) proposing to her girlfriend immediately following the official decision.
Taking on a challenger who's thrived in brawls, Jedrzejczyk put on a technically immaculate striking display for the better part of five rounds, but not before Andrade clipped her with a left hook that left her with a hematoma above her right eye within the bout's opening round.

Aside from a pair of hard-fought takedowns Andrade scored in Round 1, Jedrzejczyk didn't face much adversity. The champ had found her range by the second stanza, chipping away at the challenger's lead leg with kicks before cracking her high, then heading back downstairs with a knee to close it out.

As she has repeatedly throughout her UFC career, Jedrzejczyk effortlessly played the matador from there, tagging Andrade at will from range and leaving her swinging at nothing but air in her desperate attempts to close the distance.
While Andrade's bullish ways had served her well in the trio of wins she accrued to earn a shot at the champ, her inability cut off the cage and restrict the champ's movement was handily exposed by a world-class Muay Thai artist in Jedrzejczyk, who landed north of 200 strikes over her five-round dissection of an increasingly helpless "Bate Estaca."

A converted bantamweight, the 25-year-old Andrade sees a three-fight win streak halted with her first loss since moving down to 115 pounds just 11 months ago. Her UFC record now stands at 7-4.
