Dos Santos credits 'The Simpsons' for teaching him English

Junior dos Santos has the residents of Springfield to thank for making his time in America easier.

In a recent interview with Champions.co, the former UFC heavyweight champion revealed that his ability to learn English was greatly aided by watching "The Simpsons."

"I love to watch 'Simpsons,'" Dos Santos said. "I started learning English watching 'Simpsons.' Nobody believes that. That's not good advice, that's not a good thing, but that's how it works. I started learning what (they) said and I was looking for that."

Originally from Santa Catarina, Brazil, "Cigano" has become one of the UFC's most popular heavyweights during his eight years with the promotion, due to his affable nature and highlight-reel knockouts. He is next scheduled to rematch Stefan Struve at UFC Fight Night 105 in Halifax, Nova Scotia on Feb. 19.
