Bektic gets Elkins, Duffee returns against Godbeer at UFC 209
Featherweight prospect Mirsad Bektic is getting a step up in competition.
The undefeated Bosnian native will face veteran Darren Elkins on March 4 at UFC 209 in Las Vegas, the promotion announced Tuesday. The 13th-ranked Bektic has beaten four unranked opponents in the Octagon, last dispatching short-notice fill-in Russell Doane via first-round rear-naked choke at UFC 204 in October.
The seasoned Elkins owns a solid UFC record of 11-4 and takes a three-fight win streak into his date with Bektic. The 32-year-old wrestler most recently took a unanimous decision over Godofredo Pepey at UFC on FOX 20.
Also gracing the card is a heavyweight tilt between Todd Duffee and Mark Godbeer. The 31-year-old Duffee recently re-upped with the UFC and will look to get back in the win column after suffering a first-round knockout at the hands of Frank Mir back in July 2015.
A veteran of British promotion BAMMA, Godbeer signed with the UFC in late 2016, but fell short in his Octagon debut, tapping to a first-round rear-naked choke courtesy of Justin Ledet at UFC Fight Night 99 in November.
UFC 209 is, as of yet, without a main event.
