McGregor gets 6-month injury suspension after UFC 202
Conor McGregor could be kept from the Octagon until February 2017.
McGregor was one of 13 fighters to be handed an injury suspension after UFC 202, according to MMAjunkie. The Irishman got a six-month term stemming from left foot and ankle issues. McGregor, who came to the postfight press conference on crutches, claimed to have merely hurt his shin in landing several leg kicks on opponent Nate Diaz.
"The Notorious" can shorten the layoff and resume training as early as October, provided he gains clearance from an orthopedic doctor.
As for the man he bested, Diaz will be sidelined for just 30 days. He suffered several facial lacerations and bruising in their five-round affair.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission presided over the event and the ensuing suspensions.
