Larkin upsets Magny to close out UFC 202 Fight Pass prelims
Welterweight Bout: Lorenz Larkin def. Neil Magny via 1st-round TKO
Taking the fight on just five weeks notice, Lorenz Larkin gladly played David to Neil Magny's Goliath in the featured Fight Pass preliminary of UFC 202 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
Larkin literally kicked his way to a first-round TKO upset over Magny. "The Monsoon" immediately took the fight to the lankier Magny, bloodying his own leg in hobbling his foe with over a dozen kicks.

Magny never had a chance to use his length and stay out of range, as Larkin repeatedly stalked him to cut off the cage and tee off. With Magny desperately holding onto his leg, the underdog unleashed a slew of elbows to the head for the first-round stoppage.
Larkin earned his second straight victory, effectively snapping Magny's own three fight winning streak.
Welterweight Bout: Colby Covington def. Max Griffin via 3rd-round TKO
After a heated faceoff at Friday's weigh-ins, Colby Covington decided to teach Max Griffin a lesson.
For three rounds, Covington snuffed out any of Griffin's attempts at offense with takedowns and ground-and-pound. The debuting Griffin made it to the third round before a sustained assault forced the TKO stoppage at the 2:18 mark of the final frame.

It was the first win by strikes for Covington. He improves to 5-1 in the UFC's welterweight division.
The action got off to a furious start with Covington uncharacteristically inviting Griffin to stand and bang with him.

But "Chaos" would soon turn to his wrestling roots and score a takedown to calm the action. Griffin used a kimura lock to threaten a submission and escape, but Covington shot in to put him on his back and work to full mount to secure the opening round.
The second round was more of the same as Covington kept Griffin pinned down while smacking him with short punches. Despite Covington reaching full mount again, Griffin would make it to the end of the round down on the scorecards.

There would be no miraculous comeback for Griffin in the third, and he would go on to lose in his first taste of Octagon action.
Middleweight Bout: Marvin Vettori def. Alberto Uda via 1st-round submission (modified guillotine choke)
In his UFC debut, Marvin Vettori beat Alberto Uda at his own game.
Vettori spent most of the fight in Uda's guard, scoring points with ground-and-pound until the Brazilian attempted to get back to his feet. Uda, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, left his neck exposed in the scramble, and Vettori wasted no time in pouncing and locking in a modified guillotine choke.
