Bellator accused of illegal and unethical practices in wrongful dismissal suit
A wrongful termination lawsuit has been filed against Bellator MMA and it includes some serious accusations regarding the organization's practices.
The lawsuit was filed Tuesday, according to a report from Combat Sports Law.
The plaintiff, Zachery Light, worked with Bellator as a talent development manager. Light says that he had concerns about some of Bellator's internal activities and when his questions were allegedly ignored, it created an uncomfortable environment for him and he was eventually terminated.
Light's allegations include the promotion arranging matches heavily in one fighter's favor to punish fighters they don't like, creating conflict of interest by placing someone in an executive role who had an existing business relationship with certain fighters, and allowing an employee to drive a Bellator-branded vehicle with a suspended license.
MMAPayout.com also reports two separate instances where Light claims that the organization engaged in illegal medical practices.
Bellator has not responded to the lawsuit nor the allegations.
