'Big Nog' to be inducted into UFC Hall of Fame
Rodrigo "Big Nog" Nogueira is the first Hall of Fame inductee from the UFC's 2016 class, the promotion announced Saturday.
The announcement was made at UFC 198 and the Brazilian was in attendance to receive an ovation from his fans. The ceremony will take place one day after UFC 200 on July 10.
Nogueira retired after a loss to Stefan Struve in August, announcing his decision to walk away at age 39 after UFC president Dana White admitted he would no longer offer "Big Nog" any fights.
Nogueira finishes his career with a 34-10-1 record, having peaked during his time in Pride in the early 2000s. He was Pride's heavyweight champion from 2001-03, losing his title to the legendary Fedor Emelianenko at Pride 25.
He moved to UFC in 2007, scuffling to a 5-6 record. Still, "Big Nog" will be remembered as one of the greatest heavyweights in mixed martial arts history.
