UFC releases featherweight Diego Brandao
The UFC has parted ways with troubled featherweight Diego Brandao.
MMAFighting confirmed the release with UFC officials after an initial report from Sherdog.com's Marcelo Alonso on Thursday.
Brandao recently made headlines when he was charged with assaulting an employee at a strip club in Albuquerque, N.M. Brandao was already serving a temporary suspension from the UFC after testing positive for marijuana following a loss to Brian Ortega in January.
The strip club incident led to Brandao's arrest on three felony charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and one for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
In 10 appearances with the UFC, Brandao compiled a 6-4 record. He was the featherweight winner of Season 14 of "The Ultimate Fighter" in 2011.
