Letourneau to face Calderwood in first UFC women's flyweight bout

Strawweight contender Valerie Letourneau will face Joanne Calderwood in the first women's flyweight bout in UFC history, the organization announced Thursday.

The match is set for the UFC's debut in Ottawa, Canada at UFC Fight Night 89 on June 18.

Letourneau and Calderwood are both highly ranked fighters in the 115-pound division, but the two have agreed to move up to 125 pounds for their next fight. According to the official press release, this "is not the launch of a new division" though the UFC is exploring the possibility of a third women's weight class in the future.

A native of Montreal, Letourneau is competing for the first time since losing a five-round unanimous decision to champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Prior to that bout, she had won her first three UFC contests. She becomes the first woman to compete in three different weight classes inside the Octagon.

Calderwood is a former cast member on the 20th season of "The Ultimate Fighter" with a 2-1 record in the UFC. She has not fought since last July, when she claimed a unanimous decision win over Cortney Casey.
