Russian promotion Fight Nights Global offered UFC star Conor McGregor $2 million to fight Rasul Mirzaev at their June 17 event, reports Bloody Elbow's Karim Zidan, citing Russian media.

Mirzaev reportedly confirmed that McGregor had received a formal offer.

As outlandish as that may sound, Zidan notes that Dagestan billionaire Ziyavudin Magomedov is an investor in Fight Nights, so money would not be an issue. More relevant, however, is the fact McGregor's still under contract with the UFC, meaning the bout's unlikely to make it past the proposal stage.

McGregor was recently removed from the main event of UFC 200 in July when he chose to skip a mandatory press appearance in Las Vegas last week.

The Fight Nights event in question will be headlined by a heavyweight bout between the legendary Fedor Emelianenko and Fabio Maldonado. Barring an inconceivable sequence of events, a card featuring Emelianenko and McGregor will remain a pipe dream for MMA fans.
