Le Toux with goal and assist, leads Union over Crew 3-0
CHESTER, Pa. (AP) Sebastien Le Toux had a goal and an assist to lead the Philadelphia Union to a 3-0 victory over the Columbus Crew on Wednesday night.
The Union (4-8-3) snapped a four-game losing streak against the Crew (4-5-4), and bounced back after having their two-game winning string snapped against D.C. United on Saturday.
Cristian Maidana passed to Le Toux just outside the 6-yard box. Rather than take the shot, Le Toux crossed to C.J. Sapong, who scored his third goal of the season on an easy tap-in past goalkeeper Steve Clark in the 41st minute.
In the second half, Clark slipped while trying to roll the ball outside the box. Instead, he kicked it right to the Union's Vincent Nogueira, who chipped it in a wide-open net in the 52nd minute. Le Toux scored his second goal of the season in the 58th minute on an assist by Sheanon Williams.
Columbus is winless in three straight games; it was 3-0 against Philadelphia last season.
