Techera helps Whitecaps beat Salt Lake 2-1
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) Cristian Techera scored his first goal for Vancouver and the Whitecaps beat Real Salt Lake 2-1 on Saturday.
The 5-foot-2 winger jumped on a mix-up between Salt Lake defender Elias Vasquez and goalkeeper Nick Rimando in the 79th minute and slotted home the winner.
Techera is on a season-long loan to the Whitecaps from his Uruguayan club and has slowly found his footing in Major League Soccer since arriving in April.
Gershon Koffie also scored for Vancouver (7-5-2).
Javier Morales scored for Salt Lake (4-5-5).
